Student Forum Meetings are intended for current/prospective students at UCSC-Extension who are enrolled in the Personal Financial Planning Program, alumni, and for members of any FPA chapter. These meetings are not open to the general public.
Topic: Working with Affiliated Professionals
Financial Planning is not an “individual sport”. It requires regular collaboration and consultation with other affiliated professionals in order to deliver the best comprehensive results to your clients. For this session, we have invited 3 affiliated professionals, and one CFP® to address the following points:
The panelists will introduce themselves and speak about their practices and how they engage with others. The session will then open up for a general question and answer period. Come with your questions!!.

Panelist Bios:
Tracy Cook is a licensed CPA, and has worked with medium to high net worth clients in Silicon Valley since 1999 working for three notable CPA firms in the Bay Area before starting her own firm in 2015 specializing in individual, estate and trust income tax preparation and court/trust accounting. In addition to her work at CPA firms, Tracy formerly taught the individual income tax course for the Personal Financial Planning Program and later the Certified Public Accounting Program at the University of California Santa Cruz Extension. Tracy has her B.S. in Accounting from San Jose State University with a minor in Vocal Performance. During her time at San Jose State University, she was a member of the Choraliers during their 1995 European tour and took part in international choral competitions. She is an avid San Francisco Forty Niner fan and loves attending professional sporting events and traveling.
Richard C. Dayton, J.D., is the Founder of the Dayton Law Firm in San Jose. Rich has been practicing estate planning, trust, and probate law since 1998. As a respected leader in his field, Rich has addressed professional groups, charitable organizations, and the public on topics related to advanced planning and tax savings. In 2004, Rich was certified as a certified specialist in estate planning, trust, and probate law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He teaches estate planning in the Personal Financial Planning Program for prospective CFP®s at the University of California, Santa Cruz Extension Silicon Valley. He is a member of a number of different professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, the California Bar Association, The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys among others. Rich is a retired lieutenant colonel of the United States Army Reserve. In addition to his law career, he previously served as a senior software engineering manager for IBM.
Jesse Dogillo, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC®, AEP®, has been a financial service professional since 1988 and has a private practice in Silicon Valley. He also provides expert witness litigation support and consulting, including financial counseling and education to current U.S. military service members through the Department of Defense. He enjoys teaching and is the Risk Management instructor at UCSC. Jesse serves as president for the Santa Clara County Estate Planning Council and was appointed by the California insurance commissioner to serve in his administration as a member of the Curriculum Board, which oversees education for brokers and develops standards for providers and instructors. He was formerly on the national board of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. His hobbies include sabre fencing at Stanford Fencing Club – his top result was CA State Champion and Silver Medal Vet-40 National Championships. Jesse enjoys bocce ball, golf and sailing on the SF Bay.
Lavina Nagar, CFP®, President and Founder, Maya Advisors, Inc. Financial planning is a second career for Lavina. Before founding Maya Advisors, she worked on solutions for investment banks and other global financial institutions. She founded Maya Advisors when faced with a life transition herself. It made her realize the importance of a trusted professional when life gets overwhelming. Someone who cares, and can also provide guidance with professional objectivity. This realization has impacted her decision on whom to serve. The focus of her practice is people undergoing life transitions. She believes it is an honor and a responsibility, and tries her best to serve her clients with integrity, and accountability. Lavina is an active member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA). She has served on the board of Silicon Valley chapter of FPA as its Treasurer for three years and volunteers regularly for Financial Planning Days.
